Walking through the Stone Forest (Shilin) in Yunnan China feels almost otherworldly, it's like stepping into an Eastern fairy tale, a realm that is kind of like our world but yet feels like a magical place, where mythical beings roam and people might just fly away.
The people who have been living around this place (such as the native Yi people) have been telling each other myths about this place for centeries. Even famous legends such as Wukong from Journey To the West have been rumoured to play a role in the unique stone formation.
When I was young the japanese TV show Dragon Ball had a big impact on me. The story was (loosely) based on Wukong, while at the same time being set in this sci-fi society with flying cars and spaceships. The round electric cars in the Stone Forest look like they came straight out of the TV show.

The similarities with the scenery and design of Dragon Ball are striking, and it felt my childhood imaginations and dreams have now come alive.
