This was my first time flying into Kansai, an airport build on a man made island off the coast of Osaka, Japan. I've spend a day in Rinku Town, which hosts the bridge that is the only access point to the airport out at sea.
Rinku Town itself is quite interesting as well: Clearly build as a travel hub close to the airport with outlet malls and a small fun fair. The interesting part is that it was build a couple of decades ago during Japan's hyper growth, and it's fallen a bit behind in maintenance. Maybe in a decade I'll come back and I'll find it in an abandoned state like Spree park in Berlin.
